Covid Vaccination Booking Latest News

What is the current position for booking a Covid Vaccination?

✅ Priority Groups 1-6 are eligible to book a vaccination

✅These groups can book a vaccination at a mass vaccination centre e.g. Ashton Gate now or they can wait for their GP Practice to contact them over the coming weeks.

✅ We do not mind where you book as long as you only book ONE location and ONE first appointment – please do not book with us and then not attend as it wastes vaccines and important NHS time

You can book for the mass vaccination site either online via https://www.nhs.uk/…/coronavir…/coronavirus-vaccination/ but if you have problems with this you can book via telephone – call 119 – 7am-11pm 7 days a week.

We are aware that patient data is being uploaded in batches so please do not be surprised to be asked to call 119 back. Please do NOT call us to at the practice to ask when you will be vaccinated as we are NOT taking bookings and we do not know from one week to the next what vaccine deliveries we will receive – we are making invitations only, so please be patient as we will not leave anyone behind.

OTHER KEY INFORMATION

✅ Definition of a carer from the JCVI is, ““those who are eligible for a carer’s allowance, or those who are the sole or primary carer of an elderly or disabled person who is at increased risk of COVID-19 mortality and therefore clinically vulnerable”.

✅ Please do not ask us to add you to our Carers Register for a vaccination unless you meet the above criteria as it deprives others who are genuinely eligible of vaccinations. Ie. Please consider – are you washing, dressing and feeding this person you care for in risk Groups 1-4 or do you just pop in with some shopping each week or drop by for a chat and company for them?

✅ ALL OTHER CARERS

Don’t worry – you will still have the opportunity to be vaccinated. A national system is being developed which will enable you to self-identify as a carer and book a vaccination. Further information on this system will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime it is very important that you do not contact your GP or local authority directly to request a vaccination.

✅ You may have recently been added to the updated Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) List – we are reviewing these patients over the next few days to ensure you actually need to shield

✅ When you are vaccinated at Birchwood we will give you a leaflet with a sticker on it that confirms your vaccination with the name of the vaccine, batch number and date of vaccination. Some locations give a card. These are not the Government’s proposed Vaccination Certificates.

We hope you find this information helpful – it’s actually quite exciting that we have a roadmap for everyone getting vaccinated this year – THE END IS IN SIGHT!! 🎉

💗 THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE CONTINUED SUPPORT YOU HAVE GIVEN US AS IT HAS REALLY MEANT THE WORLD TO EVERYONE AT BIRCHWOOD! 💗
