We aim to provide all our patients with the best possible service and to achieve this we need your cooperation.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please make every effort to cancel it well in advance so that it may be offered to someone else. Non-attendance and cancellations at short notice without a valid reason deprives other patients of essential medical services.

Unfortunately some patients persistently do not attend appointments including requested same day emergency appointments. The policy below is implemented on these occasions.

We monitor missed appointments closely and where people persistently fail to attend appointments we may find that there is no alternative but to remove them from our patient list.

  • 1 missed appointment – No action
  • 2 missed appointments – First warning letter issued
  • Subsequent missed appointments – Final warning letter issued
  • A missed appointment after the final warning letter has been issued may result in your removal from our patient list
  • A letter will be issued advising you have been removed as a patient from the practice list and should find an alternative doctor.

To avoid being sent warning letters please ensure that you cancel your appointment a minimum of an hour before the appointment time. Anything cancelled after this time could be considered as failure to attend.

If there are issues (social or clinical) which prevent you from informing the surgery when you are unable to attend an appointment please contact the Practice Manager.

If you have any concerns in respect of this policy please ask to speak to the Practice Manager
